The Equality in STEM Board leads to improve equality across the Welsh STEM community. It is a forum for STEM ambassadors to come together to discuss issues and progress.

STEM skills are important for tackling fundamental challenges to our society. This includes recovering from COVID-19 and combatting climate change.

The Programme for Government promotes diversity and the end to inequality. This includes increasing diversity in STEM by seeking out participation from underrepresented groups. This is to build and develop a world in which studying and working in STEM is open to all.

Two sub-groups of the board, with additional members, were established. These groups will drive forward direct action in education and industry. The Education sub-group is chaired by Dr Anita Shaw. The Industry sub-group is chaired by Susan Jones from Tata Steel.
