The Local Government Elections (Wales) Bill will reform and strengthen local government and improve electoral arrangements.
Details
The Bill will:
- enable 16 and 17 year-olds and foreign citizens living in Wales to vote in council elections
- ensure councils encourage local people to take part in local government
- ensure councils are open and transparent
- ensure councils have the tools and powers they need to work well, both on their own and with other councils

Follow the Bill’s progress through scrutiny by the National Assembly for Wales. If passed it will become law in summer 2020.
