The scheme gives every household in Wales the opportunity to:

  • pick up a tree to plant, free of charge,
  • have a tree posted to them, or
  • have a tree planted on their behalf.

Find out more about My Tree, Our Forest, including:

  • how to collect or order you tree, and
  • how to care for it

on the Woodland Trust website.

We gave away the first 5,000 trees in March 2022. With a further 295,000 trees made available from 19 November until March 2023. You can collect your free tree from a regional hub, although the hubs will be closed from 19 December until mid-February. Welsh households will still be able to use the postal and ‘Plant a tree for me’ options.

The trees will help tackle the effects of climate change. They will also contribute to the National Forest for Wales.

Keep Wales Tidy and Size of Wales are also supporting the scheme with Woodland Trust. They are offering 100 schools the opportunity to have a small woodland planted in their grounds.

Selected schools will receive expert help in:

  • planting their trees, and
  • inspiring educational workshops from Keep Wales Tidy and Size of Wales

to make sure pupils understand the importance of trees on a local and global scale.

During the World Cup 2022, Football Association Wales also encouraged fans to plant a tree through the My Tree, Our Forest Campaign. This was to remember those who didn’t get to see Wales in the World Cup.
