Karen joined the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA) in 2018 as a member of the helpdesk team and is now a Deputy Case Manager.

Karen’s an important point of contact within the WRA, helping to deliver a fair tax system for Wales through what we call ‘Our Approach’, a Welsh way of doing tax. We work together with taxpayers, agents, and colleagues, to make sure Welsh taxes are collected efficiently and effectively.

Prior to this, Karen studied Welsh and Business Studies at Swansea University before working as a primary school teacher across South Wales.  She then joined the WRA.

Karen learnt Welsh in high school and wishes to continue to improve her skills of the Welsh language.

In October 2021, Karen was nominated by her colleagues to be the Staff Elected Member of the WRA Board. It's also Karen’s first role as a board member. She's excited about this opportunity and looks forward to contributing to the future of the WRA by bringing a unique perspective to board discussions and decisions.
