“If we connect with the broadest possible audience, we not only make products that more people can use, we also just make better products.” – Principle of Inclusive Design.

This guide shows you how to use Microsoft’s Office applications to create accessible:

  • documents
  • spreadsheets
  • presentations
  • emails

Making digital materials accessible before publishing is Welsh Government best practice. It is also a legal need following the introduction of new UK regulations. These follow the EU Directive on the Accessbility of Public Sector Websites and Mobile Applications.

This means that all materials produced for and hosted by public sector websites must be accessible to everyone. They must meet an elevated standard, which includes users of assistive technologies. This includes screen reading software, text-to-speech functionality and Braille enabled devices.
