1. Energy Service: who we are
The Welsh Government Energy Service helps public sector bodies and community groups in Wales plan and deliver local energy projects. These projects support the transition to a zero carbon economy.
The Energy Service is a four-year programme funded by the Welsh Government. The current programme runs until March 2027.
What we do
We provide technical, commercial and procurement advice to support energy projects at every stage, from concept to delivery.
We work with the public sector and community enterprises to:
- reduce energy use
- generate locally owned, renewable energy
- reduce carbon emissions
- promote electrification and reduce reliance on fossil fuels
Support is provided across the following workstreams:
- Building energy systems
- Low carbon heat
- Transport
- Renewable energy
- Energy planning
- Communities of practice
We also operate Public Sector Net Zero Reporting for Wales.
Energy Service procurement framework
The Energy Service procurement framework can direct call-off additional support, under two lots:
- Energy Service (Lot 1): Renewable energy generation, carbon reduction, financial savings, increased capacity and expertise, innovation, and technical support.
- Net Zero Reporting (Lot 2): Organisational carbon footprinting, Welsh Public Sector Net Zero Reporting, support to improve carbon footprinting processes, and emissions modelling and forecasting.
