Consultation description
A Strategic Environmental Assessment helps to develop policies that result in better environmental outcomes. The assessment can prompt changes that reduce negative environmental effects and make the most of the benefits. The assessment will use the ecosystem approach so the water policies developed consider the health and resilience of the environment and the benefits for society.
An assessment is needed under the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations 2004 (known as the ‘Strategic Environmental Assessment Regulations’).
