Approved Document R: physical infrastructure for high-speed electronic communications networks

The Building Regulations control certain types of building work and ensure that buildings meet certain standards for:

• health
• safety
• welfare
• convenience 
• sustainability.

We propose to:

• make changes to the Building Regulations 2010
• introduce a new Approved Document R supporting a new Part R (Physical infrastructure for high–speed electronic communications networks) of the Building Regulations 2010.

We are seeking views on the proposals from the Housebuilding Industry Building Control officers and the Communications Sector.
