Discontinuation notice

This release has been discontinued.

Over the last 12 months a number of Local Health Board (LHB) providers have been undertaking service redesign which has resulted in a change to how children and adolescents are assessed and seen within mental health services across Wales. Four out of the seven LHBs now operate a Single Point of Access (SPOA). This is where children and adolescents waiting for specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (sCAMHS) are initially assessed within the LHB’s Local Primary Mental Health Support Service (LPMHSS). Therefore these LHB assessment waiting times now reported under Part 1 of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and they are no longer reporting sCAMHS first appointment waiting times.

A new service specification is being developed for CAMHS services across Wales which will set out expectations of the models of care and standards that LHBS should be providing for children and adolescents with mental health concerns. Future data requirements and needs to this data are currently being explored alongside that work.

We would welcome any queries or feedback on future requirements for this data. Please contact hss.performance@gov.wales.
