Children’s rights impact assessments (CRIAs) allow ministers to comply with the due regard duty under section 1 of the Rights of Children and Young Persons (Wales) Measure 2011. They help to embed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in decision making.

A CRIA is undertaken as part of the integrated impact assessment process (IIA).

The CRIA allows officials to consider the impact to children and their rights of any proposed law, policy or budgetary decision.

If you feel that a CRIA has not been completed but should have been, you can complain to the Welsh Government.
