Summary
The Infrastructure (Wales) Act 2024 provides a process for consenting significant infrastructure projects in Wales. Significant infrastructure projects are large scale developments where the Welsh Ministers make the decision.
The process applies to infrastructure developments which include renewable energy, waste, water, and transport projects.
It replaces the Developments of National Significance and other existing consenting regimes and will take effect from 15 December 2025.
Secondary legislation to the Infrastructure (Wales) Act provides further detail on the process.
