Introduction

This document provides key information about the DDaT allowance for potential external candidates. Further information will be provided upon appointment.

What is the DDaT allowance?

The DDaT allowance is a way to recognise roles that are in demand and difficult to recruit and retain (known as Group 1 roles). The Welsh Government recognises the need for these highly technical roles within its workforce, and the need to be competitive in attracting and retaining the skillset required to support the delivery of organisational and ministerial priorities.

The DDaT allowance is a professional allowance attached to a post. It is pensionable, non-contractual and is in addition to basic pay.

The DDaT allowance has three proficiency levels: Developing, Proficient and Accomplished. Each proficiency level has a different allowance amount attached.
