What we do
The Firefighters’ Pension Scheme Advisory Board advises on firefighters’ pension schemes.
It includes:
Employee representatives
- Fire Officers Association
- Fire Leaders’ Association
- Fire and Rescue Services Association
- Fire Brigades Union
Employer representatives
- Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority
- South Wales Fire and Rescue Authority
- North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority
Regular attendees also include:
- The Welsh Government (who also act as Secretariat)
- Local Government Association Pension Advisers
- Government Actuary’s Department (by invitation when required)
The Board and its members are the persons whom the Welsh Ministers would normally expect to consult before making pension scheme regulations under section 21(1) of the Public Service Pensions Act 2013. Formal consultations on pension matters are also commonly publicly available, and open to anyone who wishes to respond.
