Jane Hutt MS, Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip
Today, I am pleased to announce a £53,100 funding award for Settled. This award will support the delivery of a Ukraine Immigration Advice Service in Wales from September 2025 to July 2026. This investment will help people who fled the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Putin and arrived in Wales through the Homes for Ukraine route, to continue living in Wales.
The Welsh Government is responding to an increased demand for specialist assistance for complex immigration advice. The service will ensure some of our most vulnerable Ukrainian guests have access to immigration advice to continue living in Wales.
TheUkraine Immigration Advice Service will provide complex legal advice casework, complemented by an accessible online workshop. The comprehensive support will extend the impact and reach of the advice service, offering much-needed support to individuals requiring additional assistance while empowering people with less complex cases to manage their visa applications independently.
Our collaboration with Settled on this vital initiative underlines our commitment to ensure the provision of immigration legal advice in Wales, delivering on our commitment in the Nation of Sanctuary chapter of the Anti-racist Wales Action Plan.
I remain grateful to our key delivery partners for continuing to make our Team Wales approach to welcoming guests from Ukraine – and supporting integration in our communities – a reality.
This statement is being issued during recess in order to keep members informed. Should members wish me to make a further statement or to answer questions on this when the Senedd returns I would be happy to do so.
