Summary
As part of its Energy Efficiency Strategy 2017 to 2022, Isle of Anglesey County Council used the Re:fit Cymru framework to install energy conservation measures across 31 buildings, including schools, leisure centres, and council offices. The Energy Service supported the council with technology selection, funding and procurement advice, and technical input throughout the programme.

Technology solution
- 752 kWp of solar PV installed.
- 4,800 LED lights fitted.
- 1,050 metres of pipework insulation.
- 700 kW of air source heat pumps installed.
- Amlwch Leisure Centre now heated by ASHPs and powered by a 50 kWp solar PV array.
Investment
- Over £3.7 million loan funded through Wales Funding Programme and delivered through the Re:fit Cymru framework with support from the Energy Service.
Impact
- 892 tCO₂e saved annually across 31 upgraded sites.
- 3,411 MWh of energy savings per year.
- £261,000 in annual cost savings.
- Creation of 2 new local jobs.
The Re:fit Cymru programme and Energy Service have been instrumental in accelerating our net zero carbon objectives and we are now progressing the Phase 2 works in partnership with our selected service provider, Asset Plus.
