Summary
Cardiff Council developed the Lamby Way Solar Farm on a former landfill site, with support from the Welsh Government Energy Service. After earlier attempts stalled due to market conditions, the project was revived through strategic planning, feasibility support, and strong internal leadership. The site has been operational since 2022 operational, co-located with a grid connection and private wire to the nearby Welsh Water plant.

Technology solution

- Funded via Public Works Loan Board (PWLB), financial modelling supported by the Energy Service.
