On 1 October 2025, Christina Macaulay was appointed as a new member to the Arts Council of Wales following an open competition earlier in 2025. She has over three decades of experience working in the arts sector and is passionate about music and supporting emerging talent.

ACW members are responsible for setting the aims and objectives of the Arts Council for Wales and for ensuring that these are aligned to the Welsh Government’s strategic priorities.

Their roles, which are voluntary and unpaid, include ensuring that both Welsh Government and National Lottery funding is invested effectively across Wales to support the Arts.

Welcoming the new member, Culture Minister, Jack Sargeant, said:

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Macaulay to the Arts Council of Wales. She brings over thirty years of experience, knowledge and expertise to the role with her background in arts broadcasting. She will be an asset to a council set up to meet the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead in the arts sector.

Maggie Russell, Chair of ACW added:

I am delighted that Christina McCauley is joining ACW. Both her extensive professional experience and personal passion and commitment to the arts in Wales over many years will be a huge asset to both council colleagues and ACW staff.
