Today I have made the Landfill Disposals Tax (Tax Rates) (Wales) (Amendment) (No.2) Regulations 2025 and these will be laid before the Senedd on Tuesday 9 December 2025. These regulations will be subject to Senedd approval on Tuesday 20 January 2026.
The new regulations set the rates of Landfill Disposals Tax for disposals occurring on or after 1 April 2026 as:
- £130.75 per tonne at the standard rate,
- £8.65 per tonne at the lower rate, and,
- £196.15 per tonne at the unauthorised disposals rate.
In setting these rates I have been guided by the Welsh Government’s tax principles and the objective of reducing landfill disposals in Wales.
