Bowen Cole
Nominated for Young person award
Bowen Cole is an exceptional young leader from Swansea whose impact on Welsh society is far-reaching. Welsh and Rwandese, Bowen has dedicated his teenage years to championing inclusion, anti-racism, and youth political engagement. As a member of the Welsh Youth Parliament, European Youth Parliament, and Swansea West CLP, he has inspired many people of colour to pursue roles in politics and public life.
Bowen’s commitment is reflected in his work as the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Officer at Gower College Swansea and his efforts to amplify underrepresented voices across Wales. Bowen has worked with the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Committee, been featured as the poster student for Gorseinon across South Wales, and engaged with prominent leaders including King Charles III and Paul Kagame.
Internationally, Bowen has contributed to diplomacy through S4C’s ‘Taith i Rwanda’ and through engagement with the Rwandan High Commission, where he was invited to support ties between Rwanda and Wales. Through national media work with the BBC and S4C, Bowen conveys outstanding empathy, leadership, and a deep commitment to public service.
