Original consultation
We want your views on revisions to the school attendance codes for primary and secondary schools.
Consultation description
We are consulting on updating the codes to:
- provide local authorities and schools with greater clarity and data on the reasons behind non attendance
- ensure that our approach to recording attendance is applied consistently across Wales and to strengthen understanding, and support effective attendance monitoring throughout Wales
We expect this consultation to be of particular interest to partners including maintained and independent schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), Special Schools, local authorities, professional associations and Public Health Wales, given the technical nature of the attendance codes. However, we welcome responses from everyone.
Note
A correction has been made to the Welsh‑language version of the consultation document to address an error in some questions. We can confirm that the English‑language text is unaffected and remains unchanged from the version originally published.
