Review of school attendance codes

We are consulting on updating the codes to:

• provide local authorities and schools with greater clarity and data on the reasons behind non attendance
• ensure that our approach to recording attendance is applied consistently across Wales and to strengthen understanding, and support effective attendance monitoring throughout Wales

We expect this consultation to be of particular interest to partners including maintained and independent schools, Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), Special Schools, local authorities, professional associations and Public Health Wales, given the technical nature of the attendance codes. However, we welcome responses from everyone.
