The Strategy for Preventing and Responding to Child Sexual Abuse in Wales 2026 to 2036 sets out the Welsh Government’s long‑term commitment to strengthening protective measures, improving responses, and ensuring a consistent, trauma‑informed national approach to tackling child sexual abuse.
The strategy provides an evidence‑informed direction for how Wales will work to prevent abuse, support children and young people who have been harmed, support adult victim-survivors who experienced child sexual abuse and equip professionals and services with the knowledge and tools needed to respond effectively.
It brings together the wider evidence base, the voices and experiences of children and adults with lived experience, and the values that underpin safeguarding practice in Wales to ensure that action is coordinated, person‑centred and sustainable over time. The Welsh Government’s aim through this strategy is to create safer environments for children, strengthen early intervention, and ensure that support is accessible, equitable and responsive to the diverse needs of those affected by child sexual abuse in Wales.
The Strategy for 2026 to 2036 and the Delivery Plan for 2026 to 2029 are above with accessible versions of the documents.
