Today, I'm pleased to announce that the National Eisteddfod have published their legacy framework (external link).

The Eisteddfod is more than a week-long festival. It is a two-year project that leaves a strong legacy for the Welsh language and its culture in the area. It is a valuable opportunity to celebrate our language through literature, music, culture, art and so much more, and this framework, which ensures that steps are put in place to plan strategically for securing a legacy in the Eisteddfod areas, is welcomed.

The document sets out a clear direction, setting out the purpose of the framework and the importance of bringing together partners in specific fields. Those fields are identified within the framework along with some of the partners that will be key to supporting the work. The structure of the collaboration is outlined, along with the intentions of convening a project board and steering group that will set out the terms of reference and strategic direction of the work – both nationally and locally.

The Welsh Government recognises the importance of this work and supports the legacy framework, especially through the work of the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport and International Relations Committee – this valuable work will also undoubtedly support the Cymraeg 2050 strategy. I wish to thank the National Eisteddfod for publishing the framework and also thank all the partners who will be involved in the legacy over the coming years.
