On Thursday 1 December, together with Professor John Harries, Chief Scientific Adviser for Wales, from whom I commissioned the report, I met with Professor Chris Gaskell, Principal of the Royal Agricultural College and Chair of the independent review panel. I formally received the report on the science base for our bovine TB eradication programme.

I am now considering that report and its implications for the Welsh Government’s overall programme for the eradication of bovine TB in Wales. I will report further on this early in the New Year.

I would like to give my thanks to Professor Gaskell and the other members of the independent panel (Professor Sir Mansel Aylward; Professor Malcolm Bennett; Professor Bridget Emmett; Professor Charles Godfray and Professor Dirk Pfeiffer) as well as to the expert witnesses who attended evidence sessions and assisted them in their deliberations.
