What funding is available?

Capital grant’s are available at 2 levels:

  • small grants under £50,000
  • larger grants of up to £350,000

About the grant

The VAWDASV grant is a capital only grant scheme.

Capital projects must fit within the 6 objectives of the Welsh Government's 2022 to 2026 VAWDASV strategy.

Who can apply for the grant?

  • Third sector organisations
  • Local authorities
  • Other public bodies
  • Health boards

We will not accept applications from private sector organisations and businesses.

Required criteria

Grants are available for the following types of projects, but are not limited to:

  • building purchase
  • collaborative approaches and bids
  • refurbishment and adaptations to ensure services are inclusive, accessible by all and meet the needs of the population.
  • service improvements to working with Children and Young people, as victims and as those who use harmful behaviour.
  • improving access and reducing barriers to early intervention and prevention services/interventions for perpetrators and those who harm
  • one-stop-shop services (tackling perpetration and victim support)
  • refurbishment work to current refuge and move on provision upgrades.
  • refurbishment work to office spaces, group rooms used by service users.
  • digital and IT equipment if assisting service users (used by service users)
  • target Hardening equipment:
    • video doorbells
    • door jammers
    • window and door locks
    • personal alarms
    • CCTV
    • access control
    • smoke security devices
    • shutters barriers

The Capital project must be completed in the 2024 to 2025 financial year.

Assessment of bids

Welsh Government officials will assess applications:

  • to check all information is provided
  • score projects against criteria to determine they fit within the aims of the VAWDASV capital grant

Applications will then be sent to local authority representatives to prioritise projects in order of need.

We will not accept incomplete or late applications.
