ATISN 16100 – COVID Social Media Expenditure
Thank you for your request to the Welsh Government for information under the Freedom of Information Act (2000) received on 19 February 2022. You requested the following:
- To provide the total spend that the Welsh Government has incurred for COVID 19 advertising across the various social media platforms during the pandemic
- To indicate how much longer this spend it likely to continue?

The below figures cover the social media advertising spend for the Keep Wales Safe and Test Trace and Protect campaigns from the Welsh Government Health and Social Services Department.
Facebook and Instagram: £290,667.54
2021-22 (April 2021 – end Jan 2022)
Facebook and Instagram: £208,992.43
The Keep Wales Safe campaign and related spend is kept under regular review so that it is able to respond promptly to ever changing COVID-19 situation. As detailed in Together for a Safer Future document, published on 4 March, the ongoing promotion of protective behaviours will still be important to help keep communities and individuals safe.
