Bovine TB has a significant impact on farms and our agricultural economy.

It affects:

  • cattle
  • domestic non-bovines (llamas and alpacas)
  • wildlife (badgers and deer)
  • humans

What we want to do

Our aim is to:

  • find it
  • deal with the source of infection
  • stamp it out
  • stop it from coming back

This means we must control TB in badgers, and in camelids. It also means that we test dead animals to check the levels of TB.

How we will do this

We have identified each area as Low, Intermediate or High, based on the incidence of the disease. This allows us to apply appropriate controls to each area. It also allows us to make changes if the incidence of TB changes in an area.
