The status of terms

Each term in TermCymru has one of three statuses: Status A, Status B or Status C.

Status A (green)

Fully standardized.

This is the status given to terms which have been fully standardized by the Translation Service. If you undertake work on behalf of the Welsh Government, you can be wholly confident that these are our standard terms.

This is also the status given to names and titles that cannot be changed, like the names of external bodies and the titles of published documents. The records for such names and titles have not necessarily been through the standardization process.

Status B (yellow)

Partially standardized.

This is the status given to terms which have been subject to some research and specialist recommendation but have not undergone the full standardization process. This status is also given to terms from external collections which have not been through the Translation Service’s full standardization process. If you undertake work on behalf of the Welsh Government, you can be fairly confident that these are our standard terms.

Status C (red)

Linguistically verified.

This is the status given to terms which have been linguistically verified, but which have not yet been subject to any standardization work within the Translation Service. These are mainly suggestions by translators and others. If you undertake work on behalf of the Translation Service, you can be confident that these terms are linguistically correct, but they should be used with caution since they have not yet been standardized.
