1.1 Cymeradwyodd y Cabinet gofnodion y 7 Gorffennaf 2025 / Cabinet approved the minutes of 7 July 2025.
Item 2: First Minister’s items
The new electric arc furnace at Port Talbot
2.1 The First Minister advised Cabinet that later that afternoon, she would be attending the breaking ground ceremony at Port Talbot, signalling the commencement of the work to build the new electric arc furnace. This demonstrated Tata Steel’s long-term commitment to the plant. It was noted there would be a large number of contracted jobs associated with the construction of the furnace.
The State Banquet
2.2 The First Minister informed Cabinet that, the previous Tuesday, she had attended the State Banquet at Windsor Castle in honour of President Macron of France.
Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister
2.3 The previous Friday the First Minister attended the Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister.
Euros 2025
2.4 The First Minister congratulated the Wales Women’s football team for their performance at the Euros 2025 football tournament in Switzerland. The team had made history by qualifying and had inspired many young people.
Welsh Government’s Annual Report
2.5 Cabinet noted the Welsh Government’s Annual Report had been published and the First Minister would be leading a debate on Delivering the Government’s Priorities and Legislative Programme in the Senedd the following day.
Summer Recess
2.6 The First Minister encouraged all Cabinet Secretaries and Ministers to take some time off during the Summer Recess.
Item 3: Senedd business
3.1 Cabinet considered the Plenary Grid and noted voting time was scheduled for 7:30pm on Tuesday and would be around 7:25pm on Wednesday.
