Item 1: minutes of the previous meeting

1.1 Cymeradwyodd y Cabinet gofnodion y 23 a 26 Hydref / Cabinet approved the minutes of 23 and 26 October.

Item 2: First Minister’s Items

Meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador

2.1 The First Minister advised Cabinet that he had a constructive meeting with His Excellency Dr Husam Zomlot, the Head of The Palestine Mission to the UK, the previous Friday.

Tata Steel

2.2 The First Minster invited the Minister for Economy to provide Cabinet with an update on the recent news about the Tata Steel works at Port Talbot.  The Company had briefed Trade Unions and management the previous week that a decision was imminent on ending blast furnace operations at the works before the end of the financial year, which would have resulted in around 3,000 redundancies and more job losses in the supply chains.

2.3 However, the board meeting, where the decision was due to be taken, ended with no official confirmation from the group, which had now created a great deal of uncertainty for the workforce.

2.4 It was noted that the First Minister and the Minister for Economy would be meeting Tata Steel the following morning, with the Minister scheduled to make a statement to Plenary that afternoon.

Item 3: Senedd business

3.1 Cabinet considered the Plenary Grid and noted that voting time was scheduled for 5.50pm on Tuesday tomorrow and 6.25pm on Wednesday.
