The career entry profile (CEP) provides a summary of students initial teacher education (ITE) and helps to prepare newly qualified teachers for their statutory induction period at the start of professional practice as a teacher.

The CEP will:

  • help to focus, provide reflection, support development and prepare for the early stages of teaching careers
  • help the engagement in collaborative discussion when planning how to meet professional learning needs
  • provide a link between ITE training and the school(s) where induction period will take place

All trainee teachers in Wales must be provided with a CEP. The CEP must be completed by both student and ITE tutor. It summarises the discussion about preparation and professional learning priorities for progression.

Students can access the CEP via their Professional Learning Passport (PLP) on the EWC website.
