Cerys Furlong is Chief Executive of GroupEd, a software company based in Cardiff providing software for schools.

Designed for schools, by education professionals and parents, GroupEd works to provide software solutions for 21st Century Schools.

Cerys joined GroupEd in 2022 from Chwarae Teg where she was Chief Executive from 2017- 2022. Chwarae Teg is Wales’s leading economic development agency for women and charity that campaigns for gender equality.

Cerys has experience from across the education sector having previously been Director for Wales of the Learning and Work Institute, Assistant Director External Strategy of the Open University in Wales and as a school governor since 2007.

In 2018 Cerys was appointed to the Cardiff City Region Economic Development Board, which oversees the proposals submitted to the city region and advising the joint Cabinet. Cerys was previously a Board member of Chapter Arts Centre and Vice Chair of the Bevan Foundation. Cerys was also previously appointed by Welsh Government to serve on the Women in STEM Board, Strengthening Equalities and Advancing Human Rights Board, Local Government Finance Reform and Public Services Leadership Panel.

Cerys lives in Cardiff with her husband Tom, and two young daughters.
