Original consultation

We want your views on the proposed changes to regulations following the amendment of the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive (2011/92/EU) in 2014.

Consultation description

This is a joint consultation with DEFRA, the Scottish Government and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) of the Northern Ireland Executive.

We are consulting on amendments to domestic legislation on environmental impact assessment (EIA) for forestry, water resources, land drainage, fin-fish farming in marine waters and marine works.

These amendments will:

  • simplify the rules for assessing the potential effects of projects on the environment
  • strengthen the EIA screening process
  • improve environmental protection
  • focus procedures on the environmental factors that are significantly affected by projects.
