Government Indemnity Scheme
7 January 2026
The Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language, The Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, and the Minister for Culture, Skills and Social Partnership have agreed that the process for removing GIS clauses in Wales should follow the model used by Arts Council England. They have also agreed that this process should be used for the forthcoming Gwen John Exhibition.
Household Notification Letter
7 January 2026
The Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government and the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language have agreed to support sending a Household Notification Letter to homes in Wales before the 2026 Senedd election. This letter will inform those who wish to vote by post or proxy of their registration status and the process for applying for a postal or proxy vote.

Letters of Comfort – Migration and Nation of Sanctuary

The Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip has agreed to issue letters of comfort to third sector organisations totalling £831,350 of funding for 2026 to 2027 from the Cohesive Communities.
School Health Research Network

The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, and Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing agreed the funding of the School Health Research Network’s work for a further two financial years.
Sustainable Communities for Learning
6 January 2026
The Cabinet Secretary for Education has approved the following projects to proceed to the next stage of the business process: Pembrokeshire, Milford Haven Schools Redevelopment; Rhondda Cynon Taff, Penrhys Primary; Wrexham, St Mary’s RC; Neath Port Talbot, Pre-16 Skills and Vocational Hub. Furthermore, Neath Port Talbot’s YGG Rhosafan project has been awarded funding through the Sustainable Schools Challenge; and Cardiff’s Ysgol Mynydd Bychan project and Denbighshire’s Ysgol Bro Elwern project have been awarded funding through the Welsh Medium Captial Grant.

The Minister for Further and Higher Education and the Cabinet Secretary for Education approved the following projects to proceed to the next stage of the business process: Pembrokeshire College, revised Strategic Outline Programme; St David’s College, revised Strategic Outline Programme; St David’s College, Main Building Internal Refurbishment Phase 3.
Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence

The Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip has agreed for the issue of “letters of comfort” to third sector organisations funded from the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence revenue budget, to assist in planning for 2026 to 2027.

The Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip approves capital funding proposals: from Pembrokeshire County Council to a value of £105,619 in 2025 to 2026; £551,516k in 2026 to 2027 and £131,408 in 2027 to 2028; from Denbighshire County Council for £4,076 in 2025 to 2026; and, from Flintshire County Council for £368,330 in 2025 to 2026.
