22 June
‘BAME’ Covid-19 Advisory Socio-economic sub-group report published (sub-group to the ‘BAME’ COVID-19 Health Advisory Group).
21 July
Professor Charlotte Williams OBE appointed to lead the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities, Contributions and Cynefin in the New Curriculum Working Group.
19 August
First meeting of the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Communities, Contributions and Cynefin in the New Curriculum Working Group held.
1 October
Working Group’s Terms of Reference published. See Written Statement Working Group also published its vision statement and a prompt sheet for teachers to support them to think about how their teaching reflects the multiethnic nature of Wales.
19 November
Working Group published its interim report, focused on learning resources.
3 December
Working Group published an infographic on Ethnic Diversity in Schools based on data from Education Workforce Council (EWC) and Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC).
2021
9 March
Professor Williams agreed to support the delivery of the new Curriculum for Wales in an advisory and implementation role from March 2021.
19 March
Working Group published its final report, focused on professional learning opportunities and resources (as well as a recap of the recommendations contained within the interim report on learning resources).
The previous Minister for Education announced a budget of £500,000 for 2021 to 2022 to support implementation.
24 March
Race Equality Action Plan published for consultation, ending 17 June, and containing the recommendations from the Working Group’s interim report.
