Paid leave means any kind of time that you take off work but is paid.  It includes annual leave, sick leave, maternity/paternity leave, and public holidays.

Unpaid leave refers to any time you take off from work during which you do not receive a salary for the length of the absence.

You may still be eligible for the Childcare Offer while on paid or unpaid leave if you have a letter from your employer to show that you are employed.  To apply for the Offer in these circumstances, you will need to tell us what your earnings were prior to these periods of leave.
