An evaluation of selected tourism destinations funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and delivered through the 2014 to 2020 European Structural Funds Programmes.

The operation is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and aims to deliver economically significant investment in key tourism assets that would attract further business investment and business growth. The Tourism Attractor Destinations (TAD) operation focused on 12 sites for investment.

Main findings 

  • There continues to be a strategic need for TAD.
  • TAD was broadly successful in terms of the outputs achieved against delivery commitments.
  • Sites have been successful in attracting new visitors.
  • The operation has made a wide range of contributions to Cross Cutting Themes.
  • Potential joint marketing between TAD joint beneficiaries, could not take place.
  • TAD has transformed sites, raising the quality and diversifying the offer available to visitors.
