The speed limit on restricted roads will usually be changed to 20mph.
Restricted roads include streetlights placed no more than 200 yards apart. They are usually located in residential and built-up areas with high pedestrian activity.
Sometimes the highway authority may propose a different speed limit and they must give you opportunity to object.
Highway authorities are:
- the Welsh Ministers for major roads (trunk roads)
- local authorities for smaller local roads
Valid objections must be based on the proposal not meeting the criteria for an exception.
Different highway authorities will publish their proposed exceptions at different times over the following months. When you have the opportunity to object the road will be marked on a map along with a link to the responsible highway authority:
