The default speed limit on restricted roads has changed to 20mph.
Restricted roads have streetlights placed no more than 200 yards apart. They are usually located in residential and built-up areas with high pedestrian activity.
Sometimes the highway authority may propose a different speed limit and they must give you opportunity to object.
Highway authorities are:
- the Welsh Ministers for major roads (trunk roads)
- local authorities for smaller local roads
Valid objections must be based on the proposal not meeting the criteria for an exception.
