The analysis below relates to the periods 1 April 2025 to 30 September 2025 compared to the same period the previous year.
Main points
- There were 7,490 fires in Wales in this period, an increase of 55%.
- There were 2,446 primary fires in Wales, an increase of 27%.
- There were 4,993 secondary fires in Wales, an increase of 76%. Since a large proportion of secondary fires occur outside, they are likely to be influenced by weather conditions.
- There were 2,382 grassland, woodland and crop fires in this period, more than treble the number seen in April to September 2024.
