4. Specific policy objectives of the scheme
The policy objective for the subsidy derives from The Vision for the Food and Drink Industry from 2021. This outlines a broad vision and mission for the future development of the Food and Drink Industry, and includes economic growth and productivity improvement, benefitting communities and society with emphasis on fair work and environmental sustainability, and raising the reputation of the Food and Drink industry in Wales, the UK, and globally.

5. Purpose of the scheme
The FITS programme will deliver against a clear strategic focus relating to 3 strands of food innovation and technology.
- New Product Development.
- Technical advice and adoption of appropriate Industry Accreditations such as SALSA, BRC and Food Hygiene Rating Certificate to allow companies to trade safely and compliantly with buyers across Wales and the United Kingdom.
- Assist companies to adopt practices to increase process efficiency.

12. Eligibility terms and conditions
Activities relating to Food and Drink production across the entire supply chain including packaging and farm based businesses.
13. Basis for calculating subsidies
Subsidies are accessed through support services provided by experienced food technicians on a project basis and the value of this support is subsidised as below, calculated on the total number of hours support provided for a project and measured against outputs linked to business development and growth.
- Micro - 100% subsidy
- SME - 80% subsidy
- Large - 50% subsidy
