The seventh meeting of the First Minister’s Hinkley Point C Stakeholder Reference Group was held on 18 January. The Group agreed the minutes from the previous meeting, held on 21 December.  The Chair welcomed Dr Sarah Jones, Consultant in Environmental Public Health at Public Health Wales, to the Group

During the meeting the Group heard from EDF’s Head of Environment for Hinkley Point C.  He provided updates to the Group on the project, including EDF’s two applications to deposit mud from Hinkley at the Cardiff Grounds and Portishead marine disposal areas in the Severn Estuary.  He explained that EDF would decide where to deposit the mud once the outcome of both applications was known.

The Group discussed correspondence received from the Counsel General, and briefing documents provided by Fish Guidance Systems and Pisces Conservation.  The group discussed areas it considered required further evidence to inform its first phase report, and identified stakeholders it needed to contact.  Members provided updates on progress with report writing and agreed to provide full drafts for the Group’s February meeting.

The Group agreed that its next meeting should be on 15 February 2021.
