Original consultation
We want your views on the proposed implementation of Bovine EID.
Consultation description
The proposals include:
- all calves must have a statutory EID ear tag
- bovine EID tags can be read visually and will be available as a flag, button or metal tag type
- a new cattle identification numbering format
- WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) tagging - the number programmed on the chip will be the same number printed on the tag
Implementation in Wales is not expected to be until 2027 at the earliest.
