The report looks at aspects of loneliness in terms of the absence of close personal relationships and a lack of wider social contacts for April 2022 to March 2023.

13% of people in Wales were lonely in April 2022 to March 2023.

People who are lonely are more likely to have one or more of the following characteristics:

  • be part of a minority ethnic group
  • be in bad general health
  • have a mental illness
  • have help from social care services
  • be in material deprivation
  • live in a single (non-pensioner) adult household
