The Minister for Climate Change, Julie James MS has appointed Lesley Jones as a new member of the Board of Natural Resources Wales (NRW).

The Board of NRW has accountability for ensuring NRW exercises its legislative functions appropriately and effectively. It is also responsible to Welsh Ministers for the ways in which NRW delivers against the Ministerial remit letter.

Lesley Jones’ term of appointment will run from 1 June 2023 to 31 October 2026.

The Minister for Climate Change, Julie James, MS said:

‘I am pleased that Lesley Jones has agreed to accept her offer of appointment to NRW’s Board; I am sure she will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in her role as Board member.’

NRW Board members are remunerated at £350 per day for a maximum of 36 days per year. Additional remunerated days may be allocated to Members who Chair Board sub-committees. 

This appointment was made in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments. All appointments to the Board of NRW are made on merit following an open, competitive process. Political activity plays no part in the selection process. 

In the last five years, Lesley has not been employed by a political party, held a significant office in a party, stood as a candidate for a party in an election, publicly spoken on behalf of a political party, nor made significant donations or loans to a party.
