The new Welsh Gender Service will start seeing patients in September, the Minister for Health Vaughan Gething announced today.
The new service will consist of a multi-disciplinary Welsh Gender Team, Local Gender Teams in each health board and Directed Enhanced Service to improve support in primary care.
The new Welsh Gender Team will be based in St David’s Hospital in Cardiff, and will start seeing patients in September, as part of an incremental implementation of the new service.
The Welsh Gender Team will begin a period of engagement in July and August with key stakeholders and the All Wales Gender Identity Partnership Board, to ensure that the service meets the needs of our trans community.
The Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board will also include further information about the service on their websites.
