Details
The proposed Order is required to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the approaches to the A477 and the A4075 trunk roads at Nash Fingerpost Junction in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, and a prohibition of U-turn manoeuvres.
A traffic signal controlled junction has been installed at this location, which also incorporates a combined pedestrian and cyclist crossing facility.
The reduced speed limit is necessary to lower vehicle approach speeds and enhance safety for all road users.
An Atkins Road Safety Review Report completed in 2020 was undertaken due to safety concerns at the junction.
This highlighted a significant number of U-turn manoeuvres was being undertaken (largely by HGVs and larger vehicles), causing safety issues and near misses on the trunk road network.
Therefore, an order to restrict U-turn movements was a recommendation for safety measures to be implemented.
