Spectrwm Youth Forum: The Youth Engagement and Participation Service (YEPS)

Spectrwm is a youth-led, neurodiverse forum which brings together neurodivergent young people aged 12–24 to share their lived experiences, promote neuro-inclusivity and explore ways to improve the wellbeing of neurodivergent young people. The forum is led entirely by young people with support from three neuro- divergent youth workers.

Judges highlighted the impact of recent projects such as the ‘Just One Thing’ animation co-produced by members of Spectrwm in response to their lived experiences of exclusion and misunderstanding. The animation is used to educate professionals, improve understanding of neurodivergence and drive more inclusive, informed practice.

As part of efforts to make youth work settings more accessible, Spectrwm members have also developed sensory boxes providing practical tools to help young people regulate their emotions, reduce anxiety, and improve concentration in busy or unfamiliar environments.

Through collaboration with local and national partners including Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Mental Health Matters, Cardiff City Football Club and RCT Library service, Spectrwm is promoting understanding of neurodiversity within the community while strengthening confidence, wellbeing, and connection among its members.
