Tal Davies, Community House Youth Project
Finalist
Tal joined Newport’s Community House Youth Project on placement but has continued to support the project as a volunteer. She has become an invaluable member of the team, consistently going above and beyond to create inclusive, engaging opportunities for all and bringing energy, empathy, and professionalism to everything she does.
Tal’s thoughtful planning means that she effectively responds to the evolving needs of young people. Highlights include her work on inspiring confidence through dance at the Maindee Festival, co-delivering school sessions on peer pressure to over 250 young people and developing a youth-led podcast to amplify young voices.
Judges felt that Tal was an inspiring volunteer and role model who had created safe, welcoming spaces in which young people could explore their interests and feel empowered to try new things. Her contribution has already led to a step change in the confidence of young people attending the centre.
One of the young people who regularly attends commented:
“Tal notices when people are alone or look uncomfortable. She will always go up to people and make sure they are alright and make them feel welcome."
