Imogen Watkins, Cwmbran Centre for Young People

Imogen Watkins, a sessional youth worker at Cwmbran Centre for Young People, demonstrates commitment, compassion and a natural ability to connect with young people. Judges considered her achievements all the more incredible given her own youthfulness – Imogen has already achieved so much and is considered a true rising star. 

Imogen brings real flair to her work – designing new approaches and ideas which really capture the interest of young people. In this way, Imogen has been able to build exceptionally strong relationships with a wide variety of young people. Her commitment to delivering inclusive, engaging and empowering provision has helped many young people build confidence, resilience and positive social connections. 

Despite her young age, she shows a strong understanding of safeguarding and applies it consistently in practice. Imogen maintains appropriate professional boundaries while remaining approachable and warm, creating a safe, inclusive environment where young people feel heard and valued. 

Imogen’s strength lies in her ability to connect authentically with her peers. As someone close in age to the young people she supports, she brings a unique perspective and relatability enabling her to develop trust with the young people.

Her calm, consistent approach has created a safe and welcoming environment, enabling many young people to engage with youth provision, often for the very first time.
