The facilities at Rogerstone School have been extended after Ministers delivered £500,000 towards a £1m scheme to provide nursery facilities in Newport.

The move is part of the Welsh Government’s £14m contribution to Newport for a £28m investment in the city’s schools through the 21st Century Schools and Education Programme.

Kirsty Williams said:

“I am delighted to officially open these new facilities which will allow pre-schoolers to move from nursery and start their primary education in one location.

“This new and improved nursery is part of our £1.4 billion investment across Wales that will benefit more than 150 schools, creating the right kind of environment for our pupils that are fit for the 21st century.”

Newport’s £28m 21st Century Schools and Education Programme is made up of six schemes, including additional nursery provision, Welsh medium provision and the replacement of temporary accommodation at six schools.
