Sell2Wales – How we advertise our procurement contracts

Sell2Wales is an online service that provides businesses with a simple way to find opportunities for them to provide goods, works or services to the public sector in Wales.

Open Data and Sell2Wales

We aim to ensure that contracting information and data on Sell2Wales is openly available for reuse under an Open Government Licence and that it adheres to the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS)

What is the Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS)?

The 3 concepts that support the OCDS are:

Open contracting

This concerns the publication of open, accessible and timely information, with an objective to work with partners to help solve problems, to deliver results and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of public service contracting.

Open data

Data released under an Open Government Licence is made available for reuse. To enable effective reuse, information should be made easily accessible and supplied in open formats including those that are machine readable.

Data standards

A data standard ensures a level of consistency in data, such as by formatting data tables or by using common agreed terms to describe data. Employing data standards helps to resolve ambiguity and enables systems and users to better interpret data. The Open Contracting Data Standard is maintained using a JSON Schema. The latest OCDS JSON Schema is available on the Open Contracting Partnership website.

The OCDS builds upon these concepts, in order to guide and support organisations to deliver truly open contracting and to enable them to provide accessible, consistent and standardised open data.
